What these picks mean, and what we are not claiming
What the percentage means
Straight-up probability here is market-implied. The betting market sets a point spread on every game, and that spread is the only thing we feed in. The market is efficient at picking outright winners and we have not shown we can beat it at that, so this is us reading the market clearly, not us claiming to know better.
What the spread pick means
At the market number, a spread is built so both sides are close to a coin flip. We do not have a proven edge against it, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. A pool card needs a side for every game, so we list the side the market prices as stronger and we tell you that is what it is. Confidence order is the same in both modes for the same reason. We have a real, market-implied read on who wins outright, and no separate proven read on who covers, so we are not going to invent a second ranking just to make the two modes look different. We did build and test a genuine cover-probability model for college football and it did not find a reliable signal at any confidence level, so we are not showing one, on this page or next to the ranking, until that changes.
Plenty of pools lock their spreads in the middle of the week and never move them again. We tested whether that gap is worth something and it is not: across 166 games, freezing the line changed which side covered in 2 of them. Even among the games whose number moved two points or more, it changed the answer once in ten. If your pool uses its own numbers, put them in below and we will flag the few games where your number really is different. On the rest it is the same bet.
Why this might look different elsewhere on The Angle
Other parts of The Angle can show a different lean on this same game, and that does not mean one of them is wrong. This page only translates today's market number into plain language, nothing else. Game Lines and Game Intelligence layer on different things entirely: an independent team-skill model, a price-value read on which book's number looks soft, and sometimes a researcher's own opinion. Those are different questions asked about the same game, so a different answer in one of those places is not a contradiction. It is a different question being answered.

What we know
Seattle is the market's side both straight up and on the spread, but the two are not the same claim here: the win probability leans modestly their way while a three-point spread leaves covering close to a coin flip. The Seahawks are missing tackle Charles Cross (ankle), receiver Rashid Shaheed (knee) and running back Velus Jones Jr. (hamstring), with Uchenna Nwosu doubtful and Drew Lock (elbow) questionable, while Chicago will be without running back Kyle Monangai (thumb/toe) and has Cole Kmet on injured reserve. Both teams come in having won their most recent game, Seattle 20-3 over Kansas City and Chicago 30-24 over New England, with each having dropped one of its prior three. The last meeting between them, in Week 17 of 2024, was a 6-3 Seattle win in Chicago. No weather information is available for this one, and there is no line movement to report.

How the NFL percentage is worked out: the market spread, mapped to a win probability by a curve fitted to 27 seasons of finished NFL games. Nothing else goes in.
Where you see "give or take", that is the honest margin on the number, in percentage points; two picks closer together
than that are a tie, not a ranking. We never print 0 or 100 percent, because neither is ever true.
Spreads shown are the average of the books we watch, to the nearest half point, so your book or your pool
sheet may sit half a point either side.
Questions
What is Weekly Picks?
A pick for every NFL and college football game this week, two ways: who wins the game outright, and who covers the spread. Free, no account needed.
Do you have an edge on picking outright winners?
No. The win probability shown is market-implied, derived from the market point spread and nothing else. The market is efficient at pricing outright winners and we have not demonstrated we beat it there.
Do you have an edge against the spread?
No. A spread is priced so both sides are close to a coin flip. We publish a full against-the-spread card because people are in spread pools and need one, not because we can beat the number.
My pool freezes its spreads on Wednesday. Is that worth something?
Almost never. We tested it across 166 games and freezing the line changed which side covered in 2 of them. You can enter your pool numbers on the page and we will flag the handful of games where your number is genuinely different from today.
How do I use this for a confidence pool?
Switch the card to confidence order. It ranks the same picks by how sure the market is, so your highest point value lands on the game the market is most certain about. That order is the same whether you are looking at straight-up or against-the-spread picks. We have a real market read on who wins outright, and no proven read on who covers, so there is only one honest ranking to show.
What does the "Our Read" order do?
It ranks college football games by The Angle's Read, our own model's win-probability read, instead of the market's number. It only covers who wins outright, never against the spread, and only on games where our model is confident enough to have a real read in the first place. Everywhere else, including every NFL game, it falls back to the same market order as confidence, so nothing on the card goes unranked or shows a blank spot.
Why might The Angle's Read show a different team or number than the confidence-pool ranking?
They are built from two different, deliberately separate sources. By default, the confidence-pool points are ranked by the market's own implied win probability, and The Angle's Read, where it appears on college football games, is shown for information only and does not change that ranking. Switch to "Our Read" order and the ranking flips to use The Angle's Read itself, wherever we have one. Think of The Angle's Read as a second opinion sitting next to the market's number, one you can also choose to sort by, not a silent replacement for it.
Why might Weekly Picks show a different team than other parts of The Angle?
This page only translates today's market number into plain language, nothing else, which is why every pick on it carries the "Market read" label. Other parts of The Angle also weigh an independent team-skill model, a price-value read on which book's price looks soft, and sometimes a researcher's own opinion. Those are different questions about the same game, so a different answer in one of those places is not a mistake. It is a different question being answered.
On numbers we do not show
You will not find a win-loss record or a return figure on this page. Published performance numbers come from one place at The Angle and it is not here, so nothing on this page is going to quote you one it made up.
